Michael Phelps facing possible fine and a loss of medals after posing for Louis Vuitton

Yahoo news is reporting that Olympic swimming champion, Michael Phelps, could be in trouble for his recent photo shoot with French luxury fashion house - Louis Vuitton.

Photos of Phelps for LV were leaked on the Internet late last week, violating the International Olympic Committee's controversial Rule 40, which states athletes can't promote any non-Olympic sponsors from July 18 to Aug. 15. Punishments for the rule range from fines to a stripping of medals.

The campaign was set to begin on Aug. 16 in order to comply with the IOC's campaign against ambush marketing. Someone jumped the gun and the photos appeared on a wide variety of websites starting on the second Tuesday of the Olympics.

ORDOS, CHINA: Miss China won the coveted title of Miss World on Saturday, triumphing on home soil in a mining city on the edge of the Gobi desert.

The mostly Chinese audience erupted in cheers when it was announced that the home candidate, Yu Wenxia, had been awarded the title.

Explaining during the final why she should win the Miss World title, Yu said: “When I was young I felt very lucky because so many people helped me, and I hope in the future I can help more children to feel lucky.”

Last year’s Miss World — Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela — handed over her crown in the futuristic Dongsheng stadium in the northeastern city of Ordos.

A total of 116 contestants, the highest number ever, took to the stage during the contest, watched annually by about a billion people around the globe.

Ordos, around 700 kilometres (440 miles) from the nearest beach, is an unusual venue for the world’s biggest beauty pageant.

Besides the traditional swimsuits and evening gowns, participants also donned outlandish costumes, with some dressed as belly dancers.

The beauty queens have been in China rehearsing for nearly a month, soaking up traditional Mongolian culture by churning yoghurt in a nomad’s yurt and donning local attire to climb a sand dune.

The city, which has a vast town square dedicated to the mighty Mongolian warrior Genghis Khan, has grown rich over the last decade on the back of a coal mining boom that has transformed it from a sandstorm-afflicted backwater into one of the wealthiest places in China.

The boom triggered a frenzy of building in the city, but the local government has been unable to fill the vast tower blocks that have sprung up, earning it the title of China’s biggest ghost town.

Enthusiastic competitors seemed unfazed, expressing optimism that with the help of the pageant, the city could leave that reputation behind and take its place alongside other global centres of glitz and glamour.

“Ordos could be the next Dubai,” said Marielle Wilkie, representing the Caribbean nation of Barbados.

Albanian contestant Floriana Garo chimed in with her own bold prediction.

“In ten years, this city will be booming,” she said.

Architecture in Ordos — where the city museum is shaped like an undulating blob — is “world class”, added Markysa O’Loughlin, representing St. Kitts and Nevis, also in the Caribbean.

Bookmakers had tipped Miss Mexico, 20-year-old Mariana Reynoso, for the crown, but Miss China was also seen as a leading contender along with Miss Nepal.

While the popularity of the contest, first held in 1951, has waned in the West, continued interest in Asian countries ensures that the final rakes in a huge global television audience.

Sweden’s Kiki Hakansson was the first Miss World, while Oscar-winning US actress Halle Berry was a finalist in 1986 and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai took the crown in 1994.

Venezuela has produced the most Miss Worlds, with six winners, while India and Britain claim five titles each.

China has already hosted the competition five times, most recently in 2010 on the tropical southern island of Hainan.

In 2002, the pageant was moved from Nigeria to Britain after more than 200 people died in clashes sparked when a newspaper suggested the Prophet Mohammed would have chosen a wife from among the contestants had he been alive.

9 year old Chinenye Emeka got her buttocks burnt with hot electric pressing iron by her guardian, Mrs. Ifechukwu Akabekwa, because she used the money given to her by a philanthropist to pay her school fees without the permission of her guardian.

Mrs Akabekwa, of Abazuonu Street in Iyi-Owa Odekpe, Anambra state, maltreated and subjected Chinenye to different ordeals on a daily basis, including forcing her to hawk along the major road of Atani during school hours. And when a stranger tried to help little Chinenye, the mother of three got so mad, she scarred the little girl for life.

Mrs Akabekwa has been arrested by police.

ESUT Vice Chancellor Kidnapped by Gunmen

The Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT, Professor Cyprian Onyeji, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in front of the university gate around 11: 30am yesterday morning.

According to eye witnesses, the gunmen ambushed the VC and his police escort at the main gate of the university in Agbani, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State, as he was returning to campus. Three of his police escorts were seriously injured in the gun battle that ensued during the kidnapping. After demobilizing the police escort, the gunmen dragged the VC's driver and orderly out of the car, jumped in and drove off with the VC.

Prof. Onyeji’s whereabouts is still unknown as the kidnappers are yet to contact his family or the school authority.

Wicked Father Pours Hot Water On Daughter’s Private Part

For daring to lick soup in the pot, a 33-
year-old man, Mr. Solarin Muyiwa has
poured hot water on his daughter's private
part, damaging part of her vagina in the
process.

Giving the level of injury, the 14-year-old

presently being treated in the hospital,”
said Mrs. Alaba Fadairo, Director of Child
Development in the Ministry.

“We were surprised when we saw the girl.
There were deep wounds on her body. Her
father poured hot water on her private
part. He said she licked soup from the pot.
The girl said she was given N50 for the day
and that she wanted to test if the soup was
hot or not ,” she added.

In his reaction, Mr. Solarin had this to say: “I
just want to apologise about it. I did it in
annoyance. I regret what I did and I just
want to apologise ... I just wanted to scare
her with the water so that she will know
the difference between good and bad. I did
not know it would result in this. I am very
sorry”.

Mrs. Fadairo disclosed that the father will be
arraigned in court soon.

This incident is very troublesome and hard to believe. In fact, am hoping it's not true. What makes the story more controversial is the fact that it is being linked to the retirement controversy going on in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.

Despite call by certain pastors in the church to Pastor Enoch Adeboye to retired from active pastoral work, the man of God has indicated that he would do as at "the right time".

Man surrenders to police 8 months after burying prophetess alive

This happened in Delta State. A 27 year old man went to the police last week to confess a crime he committed eight months ago, because according to him, the spirit of the woman he killed was haunting him.

According to the story he told police, he and some men kidnapped a prophetess in December 2011 and buried her alive a few days later in his compound. He didn't say why he kidnapped the woman.

When the police arrived at the grave Emmanuel from Owahawa, Ughelli South LGA took them to, they exhumed the body of a woman fully dressed in a white garment church attire, jewelry and all.

Emmanuel and another man have been arrested while the police is looking for relatives of the yet to be identified prophetess.

Popular Lagos Based Pastor Impregnates 15Year Old Daughter Twice after Wife’s Death

Pastor Emmanuel Alex in charge of a new generation church in Egan, on the outskirts of Lagos, has been arrested by the police for allegedly impregnating his 15-year old daughter two times.

His daughter delivered the two babies within two years. This happened after the girl’s mother died. They were all living in the same apartment at 33, Pastor Olusola Street, Agric, Egan, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

We gathered from the residents that the pastor’s nine children were not allowed to go to school or socialise with their neighbours and when he wanted to go out, he locked them inside his two-bedroom flat.

His arrest followed a sting operation by two non governmental organizations in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, Alausa, Ikeja.

We also gathered that the pastor’s wife died during labour in 2010 after giving birth to nine children.
While in labour to deliver the 10th child, the pastor had no money to take her to hospital and he asked her to deliver in their house and in the process, she died.

Sources told us that she died, Alex started sleeping with his first daughter and it resulted in pregnancy. She delivered the baby in 2011.

While nursing the baby, the pastor impregnated her again and she delivered the second baby recently.
The scandal was exposed during a burial Alex was to be the officiating pastor. Some of the residents opposed him and told those at the burial that he had impregnated his own daughter two times.

He was subsequently arrested by the police at Igando division. When we visited the station, police sources confirmed the incident and told our reporter that he has been charged to Ikeja High court where he was remanded in prison custody.
Meanwhile, the Welfare Department of WAPA has taken custody of all his children.

His flat was locked when we visited his residence.

A woman give birth to a healthy girl with two heads but one body at a private nursing home in this Uttar Pradesh district.
The abnormal baby was delivered to one Sumitra Devi (38) after a major operation at a private nursing home ‘Aashirwad hospital and Research Centre’ near Polytechnic crossing at 2100 hrs last night.

The child has two heads fixed on a single neck and body. She has two hands and as many legs and is crying with both her mouths. Not only this, she is taking feed with both her mouths normally. The rare birth is said to be owing to a congenital abnormality.

Senior doctor of the nursing home, Dr Anju, said: “It is a birth defect and usually known as ‘congential anomaly.”
It is a type of congenital disorder which is primarily structural in nature, she informed adding, the problem occurs to one child in several lakhs generally due to a genetic disorder.

Dr Vinod Kumar, another senior medico, said the chances of survival of such children are much lesser, but they can also live longer on better care. The father Tilakdhari Yadav said the newborn is his sixth child. He has four daughters. The fifth child was a boy, who is no more.

Fake P-Square’s Manager Duped French Promoter N15m

As you read this story, a French show promoter is biting his fingers and regretting. Reason, he was swindled off $100, 000 USD (N15 million) by a fake P-Square’s manager.

According to sources, the road to ‘magahood’began late last year when the French promoter, eager to bring the singing sensation to France had gone to, of all places,Facebook and Twitter to launch a search for P-Square.

His search led him to phony Facebook and Twitter IDs purportedly belonging to the manager of the twins in France. Sources say the ID belonged to an Igbo guy, who claimedhe had acquired the franchise to manage P-Square in France for two years.

While we are not sure whether it was ‘juju’ orsheer brain he used, what we are sure of is that the Frenchman, believing he was talking with the right person transferred a whopping $100, 000 USD into the account of the fake P-Square’s manager.

However, it soon dawned on him that he hadbeen swindled after the fake P-Square’s manager stopped taking his calls and so he raised the alarm but it was too late, the account into which the money was wired had been cleaned out and the fake manager had popped into the blue.

Reacting to the story, an ex-PMAN president, who did not want his name in print, had lamented thus: “This is tragic! The fault lies with the artistes who wouldn’t join a union. If there is a real union, things like this would not happen because the union would be the first port of call for any show promoter fromany part of the world wanting to do business with Nigerian artistes.

“This kind of stuff happens all the time. It hashappened to D’banj and a number of other artistes and I believe it’s their fault.”

Meanwhile, we hear that the French show promoter is leaving no stone unturned in fishing out the culprit and is currently making efforts to reach out to security agencies in the country.

Police drops murder charge against banker, Yinka Johnson

Yinka Johnson, the banker accused of crushing a LASTMA official to death on Friday August 10th has been freed of the murder charge. The police, some LASTMA officials, eye witnesses and some members of the press visited the scene of the incident yesterday Monday August 13th to investigate further and afterwards all agreed that Yinka's car was not the car that hit and killed 33 year old Hammed Balogun. Eye-witnesses, including the one inside the bus that allegedly killed hammed, gave the police a clear account of what really happened that Friday.

After the investigation yesterday, the police officially dropped the murder charge and instead arraigned her for driving recklessly.

Yinka Johnson was brought to the Igbosere Magistrate Court today to face a one-count charge of driving recklessly. She was granted bail and ordered to pay fine. The case was adjourned to Sept 3rd.

Bomb Explodes In Kaduna Metropolis

An IED has exploded around the Ahmadu Bello Way/Lugard/Alkali axis in Kaduna, Kaduna State, according to eyewitnesses. At least 3 dead bodies were seen at the scene of the blast.

One eyewitness said that the IED, which was being transported by men believed to be members of the Boko Haram, detonated in transit, killing them instantly.

The source further said the loud bang shook the often crowded and busy part of the city where it occurred, sending wares and windows flying, just as people fled the scene. A combined team made of up the military and local law enforcement have cordoned off the scene of the blast. (TheWill)

The duo of Kenny and Dayo with their entertainment outfit revolutionalized the hip hop genre of music in this part or the world through their numerous radio and television programme in the early 1990s. 31-year-old Woman Stabbed and Killed Fiance On Wedding Day

HOKENDAUQUA, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania woman who was supposed to be spending her first full day as a newlywed was instead in jail Sunday, accused of killing her fiance hours before they were to get married, authorities said.

Na Cola Darcel Franklin, 31, was charged with criminal homicide in Saturday morning stabbing death of Billy Rafeal Brewster, 36, in their Whitehall Township apartment.

At her arraignment by video from jail Saturday, Franklin – apparently unable to grasp that he was dead – pleaded to the judge, “You got to check again!” according to the Morning Call newspaper in Allentown.

After District Judge Donna Butler told her that Brewster had been pronounced dead earlier, Franklin wailed and covered her face in her hands.

“I want my family back,” she said, rocking gently back and forth. “I want to go home.”

When asked if she understood the homicide charge, Franklin wept and choked out the words one at a time.

“I … did … not … kill … him … on … purpose,” she said, according to the newspaper.

Franklin and Brewster were to be married at 10 a.m. Saturday, but police said they were called to the apartment shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday and found Brewster bleeding from the torso as he lay on the landing outside his apartment. He was pronounced dead a little over an hour later at a hospital, District Attorney Jim Martin said.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office said a preliminary investigation revealed two stab wounds that resulted in a punctured heart.

Neighbor Steve Engel said the pastor who was supposed to perform the ceremony came to the building after not being able to reach the couple, and others who were apparently going to the wedding also showed up at the building throughout the day.

Speaking on her reaction when he decided on music as a career, Skales says his mother was in total support; describing her as his greatest fan.

Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta nominated for 2012 UEFA best player award

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Real Madrid CF) Lionel Messi (Argentina, FC Barcelona) and Andres Iniesta (Spain, FC Barcelona) have been shortlisted by UEFA for the 2011/12 best player in Europe award.

The three Spain-based players came top of a poll of 53 journalists from UEFA’s member associations. Andrea Pirlo of Juventus finished fourth, while Barcelona’s Xavi came in fifth.

Man Fatally Axes wife to Death while asleep for ‘bragging’ about Rich Boyfriend

A Bulawayo man from Lobengula West suburb reportedly fatally axed his 23-year-old wife after she allegedly “bragged” to him that she had a richer boyfriend.

The man, identified by police as Milton Dube (24), allegedly committed the crime in front of his one-year-old daughter and left the child with the body.

The child was later found crying while cuddling the body.

He allegedly committed the crime at his mother-in-law’s homestead in rural Nkayi on Tuesday at about 2am.

Police tracked down Dube who had escaped into a nearby bush after the offence, and arrested him.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube confirmed the incident yesterday.

“Milton Dube reportedly had a fight with his wife Ntombiyenkosi Sibanda of Tshudini Sibanda homestead, Dobhane Village in the Sebumane area of Nkayi. She reportedly told him she had a rich boyfriend as they prepared to sleep in their bedroom hut on Monday.

“Their daughter was sleeping with them,” said Insp Dube.

He said the couple quarrelled over the issue, until they fell asleep.

“At about 2am, Dube allegedly woke up, took an axe and struck his sleeping wife on the lower part of the right ear. She died on the spot. Dube then took to his heels and disappeared into a nearby bush,” he said.

Insp Dube said Dube’s mother-in-law, Ms Miriam Nkomo, heard the child crying incessantly at about 4am and was eventually forced to go and find out what was wrong.

“She found her daughter dead, with her granddaughter crying next to the body. Ms Nkomo made a report at Sebumane Police Post. Police attended the scene and managed to track down Dube and arrested him,” he said.

Insp Dube said Nkomo’s body was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for a post-mortem, while Dube is expected to appear in court soon.

He urged people to settle disputes without resorting to violence.

“Violence never helps anyone. This little girl is now likely to grow up without parents as her mother is dead and her father might go to prison for a long time.

She may have to grow up with the trauma and stigma of her father killing her mother. All this could have been avoided through dialogue,” said Insp Dube.

He said couples should approach the police, elders, religious or traditional leaders for guidance whenever they had problems, to avoid unnecessary bloodshed in misunderstandings.

A driver of a Peugeot J5 this morning sent the occupants in his bus to an early grave. The bus driver is said to have been in a hurry to cross the rail tracks and ignored the fast moving train which was blaring its horn. It happened at ‘Ikeja along’ (you know the express that leads to Oshodi if you are on the right and Iyana Ipaja if you are on the left).
Now this is another one law enforcement agencies need to monitor dearly. Okada riders and some Danfo drivers will still not stop despite the warning signal and even though some LASTMA officers are right in front of them.

Its better late than Never.. Now the bus driver has dragged others with him to their graves.. *Sigh*

Zaaki Azzay's 8 year marriage ends; wife claims years of battery

After 8 years and three children together, Zaaki Azzay's marriage to Hadiza Azzay has ended. The marriage actually ended four months ago but we are all getting to know about it now because the ex-couple are involved in a bitter custody battle. The police are even now involved.

29 year old Hadiza told me she packed out of her husband's house on April 17th after being badly battered the day before by Zaaki. She was able to leave with two of her children, but the third one, her eldest child, is still living at home.

She said he had been battering her for years, sometimes he would beat her so much she would faint, but her family kept telling her to go back to him for the sake of their children. She said she left him twice last year but returned to him after much pressure from family and friends. But when the battery continued, she made up her mind to end her marriage for good because she didn't want to be another dead wife.

Hadiza was a housewife, so since leaving her husband she has been under the care of an NGO that takes care of battered women. They've given her and her children shelter and are taking up her case.

She will issue an official press statement telling her side of the story in the coming days...right now she's dealing with the police who arrested her for allegedly 'kidnapping' her own children. She says Zaaki has been using the police to harass her. More on this later...
